CFI’s Recreation Department Learns to Play Frisbee Golf
In May we started learning to play Frisbee Golf. Two local Grand Valley Disc Golf members, Don and Dave came to our first practice. They gave us our first lesson on how to throw a disk and the basics of the game. They gave us a bag of discs, instructions and a portable basket. We have enough discs so players have their own. The portable basket is great. The plastic stand and netting allows us to use it in the gym when weather is too hot or cold. When we were at Sherwood Park earlier this month everyone was glad to have it for a little impromptu practice.
Tonight we were able to actually get out on the course at West Lake Park. We played around trees, up and down the hills and around other golfers. To test our improvement we tried throwing at different distances from the basket with some pretty good accuracy. It’s not as easy as it looks, but when that disc hits the basket it’s a celebration from all of us. When the disc flies in exactly the wrong way from where you wanted it, that’s fun, you go get it and throw from where it landed again and again until you get it in.
Again thank you Don and Dave and the Grand Valley Disc Golf club, we are having a great time.
